autosotericism in islam
I'm reading about autosoterism and the concept of grace in Christianity. It made me wonder about Islam. Does Islamic doctrine require the grace of God (or maybe a gift from God) for the salvation of man?
İsmet Özel, a communist muslim, writes:
Kur’an nâzil oldu, yani indirildi; günahsızlık gökten zembille inmeyecek. Bilakis salih kullar yerden yükselip göğe kavuşacak.
The Quran was revealed, that is, it was sent down; innocence will not descend from the sky in a basket. On the contrary, the righteous servants will rise from the earth and reach the sky.
This passage is autosoteric as fuck, but he's definitely not a "normal" muslim. He was a communist in the 1960s but never was a socialist. After serving time in jail and being alienated from the political scene by ideologies of the 1970s, he decided that Islam is the nomos of Turks.
I wonder if his views are aligned with the dominant doctrine.
